My training schedule got a little messed up this week, and I
only got in 6 of my miles, including my long run. I ended up doing my running
Wednesday and Saturday, instead of doing Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday. The two
miler on Wednesday was good.
4 miles Saturday went really well, and I’m pretty sure I
would have been able to do the whole thing without stopping if we didn’t almost
lose 2 of our kids. Ian and Caleb didn’t pass us heading back by the time we
hit the turnaround point, which was a fork in the trail. Jerry went left, and I
went right. I found them almost right away, but Jerry was too fast in the other
direction to call out to him. Instead of going a short distance and coming
back, he took it all the way out to the next trail crossing, another mile away.
Finally he called me to see if I had found the boys. Since I had just sent them
back to the start where everyone else would be waiting for us, Jerry ran home
from where he was, and I ran back to the start and took everyone home in the
van. So except for that little break while I waited for him to show up at the
turnaround point or to call me, I did manage to run almost all the miles.
Sunday was interesting, being my first actual “Easy” run of
the training program, following a little bit longer of a run than I usually do.
First of all, “Easy Run” sounds like an oxymoron to me. I went into it not
really knowing what to do. Power walk? Jog? Run/walk? No clue. Jerry said to
just go with what felt good. Don’t push it, just relax, but get it done.
Whatever! So I did. I just kinda went with it. If I felt like walking, I walked
for a little bit. And I didn’t push myself. It was kinda weird, but I did get
it done.
