My First 5k

I finished it, and I feel great! Totally proud of myself :) It was hard, but I managed to only walk about 4 times and only for a couple minutes each time, maybe 10 minutes total. I don't think I'll mind doing this again (hint hint, Lisa!). I finished at 50:24, unofficially. Not bad for a first time, with a trail partially covered in snow, ice and mud. Although I have to admit, I'm not sure I'd prefer 90º heat and sunshine either...

Thirty, Flirty, and Thriving... or that's the goal, at least. I'm Laura, and this is my blog about my journey to a happier, healthier me. I've been struggling with my weight for the last 8 years, and now it's time to do something about it. And I mean, really do something. I'm approaching the big 3-0, and like that silly movie, I feel like I've been thrust from 13 to 30 overnight. I seem to have lost track of myself, my life goals, and my health. How I learned to run

I had never run in my life... well, never for more than 10 paces maybe. High School gym class - I walked. Youth sports - I didn't bother. I wasn't ever athletic, and running sucked. It was hard work and made me breath too hard. I wasn't interested. Then one day, I decided to train for a 5k which required running. Sure you can walk them, but if I wanted to go for a 3 mile walk, I surely wouldn't pay the registration fees for it!
