1/14-1/20
Another week and I’ve kept the flu weight off. I’m very happy about this. I haven’t seen another drop, but that’s ok. I just would like to get it moving again. It’s apparent that my body knows how to maintain, so if I could just get it to drop and maintain a goal weight instead, that would be awesome…

I met a lady at Kettlebell that competed in (and took 2nd place, nationwide) the Max Formation challenge, held annually by Max Muscle. She told me the story of her weight lose journey, losing 75 pounds in 6 months, with what sounds like similar hormonal issues to mine.  Encouraged by this, I made an appointment with their onsite nutritionist to discuss ways to help me lose the weight and best prepare my body for the ½ marathon.

My appointment was on Friday. I told the guy about my hormonal issues, and the challenges I’ve faced with trying to lose weight for the last several years. He asked about my diet, so I told him what I eat, and how many calories I average. From logging in the fitness pal app, I found that I average about 1500 calories a day. He asked about my exercise, so I told him about my Kettlebell and running activities. Basically, he came to the conclusion that I’m not eating enough calories, and I’m not eating enough protein.  His idea is that I should be eating 1900 calories a day, split between 6 meals, and each meal should have 25+ grams of protein… Wow. That’s a lot of food, and a lot of protein. I’m skeptical, of course. I’ve had other nutritionists, personal trainers, and doctors all give me dozens of other things to try and none of it has worked yet.  I guess we will have to wait and see. I’m willing to try just about anything, as long as it’s healthy. My plan is to give this a two week trial, and then re-assess.

I’m signed up for several races already, and there’s a few more I’d like to do. I’m registered for the Loveland Sweetheart Classic 4 mile race February 16th, the Sharin’ o’ the Green St. Patrick’s Day 5k March 16th, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half marathon (in San Diego!!) June 2nd, and the Color Run Denver 5k June 16th. I’d like to register for the Bolder Boulder 10k on Memorial Day, and it kinda fits in with my taper for my training schedule, and I’d also like to register for the Equinox race again, but haven’t decided on a distance. They have a 5 mile course and a half marathon course. Last year, I did the 5 mile course, but I think I’d like to do the Half this year, depending on how my first one goes. I’m going to wait until after my half in June, before I decide for sure.
