The Purple Stride 5k
Who runs a 5k on their birthday, anyway? Crazy people... like me :) Yeah, I did it on purpose, too! I celebrated my birthday with a weekend getaway in Denver with my husband and some (awesome) friends, and one of the things we planned was a 5k the morning of my 30th birthday.
They never seem to go as well as I hope, anymore - especially since my training has really suffered lately, but I pushed myself, and even though I didn't beat my goal time for the race, I did improve. It's hard to get back into the routine of running regularly when you've backslid so much. It's pretty frustrating, really. Mostly because I've done it and so I know I'm capable of running a full 5k, non-stop, so when I try after not training for so long, it sucks to realize that the endurance that I once had is gone and I'm going to have to work to get it back. I'll get there though.
Plus Jerry got me an awesome GPS watch for my birthday and I got to try it out on the race this morning :) It will be great to see the break down of my run a little more accurately than the phone app I've been using, and I can use it to improve my training.
Finish Times:
Jerry: 33:54
