My Journey - Week 28
Dec. 12th - 18th
I lost 1lb, and got in a couple runs at the end of this week, but no workouts with Wanda. We started our “new” training program on Thursday. We are kinda making it up as we go along right now, but basically we started over on the same 5k program, but Jerry’s running as my pacer so I can get my speed up. The goal was a 10 minute mile pace, or 6mph, but I think my pacer needs to be calibrated. Runkeeper said I was running at 7mph, and that felt really fast – maybe too fast, for me and my short legs. It was only a 2 minute run, but it was hard… But not as hard as the very first 2 minute run I did on the program the first time around!
Friday, we did a 1 mile run on our 5k practice route, before dinner. That helped, but the big hill was still hard! I ran it in 14:27. Sunday, we went to CSU and used their track for another 1 mile run. I wanted to try a flat surface and see how I did on time. I was able to run it in 13:40, without really pushing myself, but I was tense the whole time. I had kids not listening to our instructions (Nate), cutting me off (Tylor) and running slow zig-zags around goose poop (Lily) and a couple ice patches (Kyndall). That was really frustrating and distracting, so it made it pretty hard to concentrate on my running. Oh well, better luck next time, I guess!
