Loveland Sweetheart Classic

Today was the Loveland Sweetheart Classic 4 mile race. The weather was supposed to be good, but we woke up to snow! I was not looking forward to a repeat of the Colder Bolder! However, it turned out ok. The snow stopped coming down about the time the gun went off, and it was a short run to the main roads where the majority of the trail was laid out, and since the weather has been pretty decent up until today, it was all melted off by the time we got to that point. It was a hard run for me, but no surprise there given my last few weeks of “training”. It was cold and I didn’t stretch well either. So, I ended up running the first mile with Caleb, before ending up with half my kids and finishing the last 3 miles alternating between running and walking. I kicked myself a little for not running it all, especially because I think after walking a few yards I was stretched out enough that I could have finished if my kids hadn’t been at the back of the pack. But, I wasn’t going to leave them behind to finish without any adult supervision, either.

Finish Times:

Nate - 39:59
Ian and Jerry - 42:33
Lily and Honey - 57:04
Tylor and (unofficially) Caleb - 1:04:49
Kyndall - 1:05:36
Me - 1:05:42

Update: Lily took 3rd place for girls ages 0-15 and won a medal! Go Lily! That’s her second 3rd place finish. The medals were labeled wrong, so we will have to pick up her medal next week. I’ll add a photo to this post when we get it.
