4/8-4/14
This week felt like such a long week. I didn’t go to work on Monday because the pain kept me up most of the night, and was still pretty bad in the morning. Tuesday, I went to work and did ok throughout the day. Definitely better than the previous 3 days. I went to see my chiropractor, mostly just to get a second opinion, but also because if there were any adjustments he could do to help, I wanted it! He checked me out and said he was certain I did not have a herniated disc but more likely I tore the ligaments. He did a minor adjustment on me to re-align my hips/pelvis which was slightly rotated, probably from the muscle spasms. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were much better. I woke up tight, but loosened up throughout the day and had minimal pain.

I didn’t manage to get to the nutritionist on Friday to check in, but I know lost 0 lbs. I would have liked to get in to see if my BMI dropped at all, at least. I wonder if it is possible that my body just adapts to dietary changes that quickly. Maybe I need to try switching something up every 2 weeks to keep my body from plateauing?

Saturday was soccer day, which meant I had lots of walking to do in the morning. Walking to the fields is not usually a very quick couple steps from the car. We’re talking halfway across the parks, or more. It was a good test of how my back was going to handle a little bit of exercise since I haven’t gotten any in over a week. It went well. My back felt a little tired that night, but other than that, no big deal. I did some light exercises and iced it before bed, hoping to feel good for my 5k, Sunday.

My back was feeling really good when I got up on Sunday morning, but I was really nervous about how my back was going to do for the Flying Pig 5k race. Fortunately, I was worried for nothing. My back didn’t hurt for the whole race, except for a couple short twinges when we were running down hill, but a quick correction to my form and the twinges went away. I think I’m finally healing! I’m looking forward to getting back on a training schedule again, assuming that I will continue to feel good during the runs.

Weekly totals:
3 Miles ran, 0 lbs lost
